What is the product philosophy at Ensorcell?
The product philosophy at Ensorcell has evolved out of our own experiences behind the bench. We believe in working hand in hand with scientists and researchers to solve the problems they face daily, with better engineering and product design. The goal is to identify problem areas that can be improved by reimagining more efficient and cost-effective solutions.
We look at how life science tools are engineered and develop more intuitive, placeable/portable and cost-friendly instruments and consumables, that are fit for purpose, designed with a people-first perspective. Our team takes a different approach to development, deeply involving both our internal and external partners throughout the entire process.
How do the starter products reflect the ethos of the company?
Throughout the Ensorcell product portfolio, you can see the themes of cost-effective, high-quality products that are user-friendly, easy to place (often portable), and made in the United States. Carrying forward our ethos, we are not just supplying tools. We are working to reshape the future of life science production by asking what functional technology means.
Our starter products epitomize how clean, focused engineering can better meet research, development and manufacturing needs. The approach we are taking challenges the status quo by focusing on cost-efficiency without compromising quality or performance. From bench-scale research to commercial-scale bioprocessing, we are addressing the evolving demands of modern laboratories so that scientists can push boundaries and drive discoveries that matter.
What unique challenges are you addressing with products today and in the future?
The market today is saturated with competitors that may be high-priced or inaccessible to most scientists and life science start-ups. Research alone can be pricey, creating barriers in getting breakthrough medicines to market.
In parallel, contract manufacturers have limited options for the hardware and consumables they purchase to support their processes. This is due to the costly and resource-intensive nature of launching new consumable and hardware products in the industry, which can sometimes minimize competition in the tool space. This leaves customers, including contract manufacturers, with, at times, over-engineered and over-priced options.
We are working to overcome these challenges with a new product innovation approach that strikes a unique balance of form and function. Our products leverage our internal life science expertise, unique access to top-notch Re:Build engineering resources, and customer-centered innovation to drive this change. This allows us to seamlessly and uniquely tackle problems that our industry has notoriously ignored.
It is important to highlight that we are not doing this just to launch a product for today. We are also working to have the right service and support over the life of each product to build a long-lasting partnership with our customers to see their success come to fruition.
How does your industry experience impact the evolution of the Ensorcell portfolio?
As a scientist, I understand the challenges that scientists face. I also understand the need to make research and development processes easier and quicker, so we can accelerate therapeutic breakthroughs that meet the needs of patients, faster and better.
Every day I am drawing on my medical training and business experience to consider all stages of bench to bedside science. This mindset drives our product portfolio, complemented with a deep passion for helping the life science industry make a bigger and bolder impact with Ensorcell products.
What is your favorite thing about working in the life sciences sector?
There is nothing like being able to use my education and background to serve communities through science and health. It feels like a full circle moment to be here helping to empower and enable scientists. I know that every day I am helping to support biomedical breakthroughs that improve health and save lives, and that is very rewarding to me.
